Hal Holbrook

Hal Holbrook is the author of a historical 20th century biographical family saga series. Book one, LOOKING THROUGH WALLS is based on the life of his great uncle, Harold Deal, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who worked for the York & Sawyer architectural firm in New York City during the early 1900s.

The series chronicles three generations of Harold Deal’s family. Relationships and personal romances are revealed over the span of time in history from WWI, WWII, and up to the Cold War. Hal spent five years researching for these works, traveling twice to NYC from his Oregon home to view reserved materials about the York & Sawyer Architectural firm. The materials are located in the libraries of NYC and Columbia University. Hal also sought out locations where his great uncle worked, lived, attended church, and was known to visit.

Hal Holbrook also wrote a children's book entitled "The King Who Wanted a Whale" which has been developed and presented as a musical stage play. The book is illustrated by Dutch artist Vejo Verstappen.

Hal is from South Carolina and currently resides in Oregon.
