Whitney Rae Palmer is an author and artist whose work is deeply rooted in the wild beauty and mystery of the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised in Sandpoint, Idaho, she grew up surrounded by the rugged landscapes, deep waters, and mythic stories that continue to inspire her creative world.
With a B.A. in Art from the University of Oregon, Whitney blends her fine art background with her love of storytelling. Her debut book, The Mysterious Pend Oreille Paddler, was first published in 2016, launching a three-part illustrated series centered around a playful interpretation of the legendary creature of Lake Pend Oreille. Written in four-line rhyming stanzas reminiscent of Dr. Seuss—complete with tongue-twisting verbiage—the books offer a lighthearted entertaining read for both kids and parents, as well as residents and visitors to the area, and all those intrigued by the cryptids of the Pacific Northwest with "messages from the deep."
