Linda Walsh

Linda Walsh taught for many years at the Open University and specialised there in eighteenth-century and early nineteenth-century art, focusing initially on French art and later on Europe more broadly. Her earlier articles and teaching materials explore the fascinating connections between art, ideas and cultural movements such as the Enlightenment and Romanticism. 'A Guide to Eighteenth-Century Art' and its companion website aim to provide some historically relevant material for students and others who want to develop their viewing of the art of this period with greater pleasure and understanding. The book addresses a wide range of issues, from the training artists underwent to the market conditions, institutions, ideas, social and political developments influencing their work.
