Meikele Lee

Meikele Lee is an award-winning children’s author whose work has been recognized with the 2017 and 2018 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards. Her debut, My Belly Has Two Buttons, was also selected by the USBBY as one of only 12 “Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities.”

Based in Montana, Meikele is a new wife (2025) and proud mother of three amazing children. With over 19 years in cosmetology, her true passion for writing began when her youngest child’s life-threatening oral aversions required a feeding tube. Through storytelling, she sought to understand his journey, create connections for children with and without medical devices, and help educate others about the life-saving impact of feeding tubes.

After overcoming domestic violence in 2023, Meikele has returned to writing with fresh perspective. Her stories continue to inspire compassion, resilience, and healing, reflecting the courage it takes to rebuild a life and embrace new beginnings.
