H.E. RODDA - Biography

Born in Washington, D.C., H.E. Rodda’s career has been wide and varied.

After dropping out of college midway through his Freshman year, he spent the next several years, working at various pursuits, including stock clerk for a medical supply business, teller in a lending institution, field worker for a real estate appraisal company, and chase man for a finance company. In the midst of this, he spent six months on active duty with the Army Reserve and another six months living in the Bahamas where he made his living in construction, all of this by the age of 21.

From ages 23 to 29, he worked in the Life Insurance Industry, mostly in sales, sales training and sales management. By age 30, he had found his way into his first love, residential design and construction, eventually partnering with others to own a piece of his own company, designing and building homes.

During that same period, he became involved in local politics, serving as an appointee on the area planning commission, then later holding elective office as a county commissioner.

Divesting from his construction company, and following his political period, he formed his own consulting company, specializing in matters related to real estate and land use.

Through all those years, going back to his childhood, Rodda has also had a burning desire to write. His wide range of experience has led him to write a large variety of material, from short stories to non-fiction satire and opinion. He considers writing a powerful means of expression, and fiction, its most powerful. But, only now has he had the fortitude to write a novel he feels worthy of publication.

Currently single, he has been both a husband and father, and more recently, a grandfather. Having also lost two wives to cancer, his experiences as a family man have also contributed to his writing point of view, and it is the collection of all these experiences that have led him to publishing his first novel, “Identity Crisis.”
