Ian Richards

Ian Richards author of ‘The Wrong Kind of Expert’, has wide experience in business, consultancy and investing.

Ian started his career as a manager for a major international insurance broker in the city of London before setting up a project management consultancy business. Later, he founded Accounting Office Software Limited, and led the company for 19 years before selling the business to the du Pre plc group in 2013.

Since then, he has written on investing matters for ‘The Motley Fool’, and provided mentoring help to young entrepreneurs. He now lives in the Costa del Sol with his wife, Angela.

He has previously written books on business, and contributed articles to the national press.

With average annual returns of over 35% since selling his business, Ian attributes his success as an investor to a cool temperament, a sound business knowledge, and a willingness to study and learn from the investing greats, such as Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, and Shelby Davis - all of whom achieved huge returns over extended periods.
