I love computers and I’ve loved them since I was a little kid. Since I’m slowly but surely getting closer to my fortieth birthday it means I’ve had a soft spot for these integrated circuit filled devices for quite some time. Like so many computer-lovers of my generation, I first came in contact with this strange new world through my Commodore 64. The Commodore 64, or just the C64, was a brilliant machine that you could buy at your local toy store. The one I had came with a tape drive, a joystick and a cable to use the family TV as a monitor. It simply had everything I needed to play games and that was all I cared about at first. I
kept using my C64 for a long time. I was still using it when most people had moved on to using PCs (this was before the internet - I simply didn’t know that there was new and better stuff out there….and I probably couldn’t have afforded it anyway).
But what makes me qualified to write a book on security? Well, I have worked in the security industry for roughly fifteen years. And during that time I have learned how to configure firewalls, how to conduct security test, how to handle security incidents, how to take viruses and other types of malware apart and so forth. I’ve also managed to start and successfully manage my consulting business, Art&Hacks.
My more formal merits include a bachelor's degree in computer and systems sciences from the University of Stockholm and a Security+ certification.
When my computer doesn’t behave they way I want it to I resort to reading poetry, abstract painting and taking my band For Reasons Of State on the road.
