Audit & Process Foundation

13 years in audit roles—financial auditor with KPMG, IT auditor in industry—taught me how transaction processing systems actually work, where they break down, and how to design controls that function under operational pressure. This audit discipline directly informs my AI governance perspective: effective controls must be built into systems from the ground up.

My process improvement methodology focuses on mapping actual business processes (not idealized workflows) and designing sustainable improvements. This hands-on experience with process variation and edge cases explains why AI automation is harder than vendors suggest and why the "last 10% of automation" often requires 90% of the implementation effort.

Consulting Experience

30+ years international consulting across North America, Europe, and Mexico. Manager with PwC and BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), specializing in ERP implementations (e.g., SAP), Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, supply chain optimization, and enterprise system integration for Fortune 500 companies across oil & gas, retail, healthcare, telecommunications, financial services, and manufacturing.

Notable projects include designing SOX-IT compliance frameworks for global energy company, multi-business-unit SAP implementations, and managing cross-continental system integrations for multinational companies.

Current Focus

Writing about how lessons from audit practice and enterprise software implementation apply to AI transformation. Examining practical challenges like data quality requirements, integration complexity, and governance frameworks that determine AI success or failure. Advocating for realistic timelines, human-centred design, and internal controls that enable sustainable AI adoption.
