Having had a number of poor dental experiences as both a child, and as a young adult in getting my wisdom teeth dealt with, it would seem a rather odd choice to have made dentistry my career. Though I could have gone into the arts as either an oboe performance major in music or as a photographer, I chose an art of a different sort: the dental arts.

After specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery, it occurred to me that improving the overall experience of the oral surgery patient was going to require my creative gene with out-of-the-box thinking. It's one thing to simply perform a procedure on a patient to eliminate their specific problem, but it's another to make it as pleasant an experience as possible. That is an art.

With 30 years of experience, I am also interested in helping people to avoid unnecessary problems by sharing what I have learned from the mistakes of my patients and myself when younger. My first book (8 Secrets About Teeth EVERYONE Needs to Know) shares uncommon "insider information" the reader needs to be able to make informed choices about his/her teeth.
