John Coutis
John ‘JC’ Coutis is an exceptional man. He believes that our lives can be brilliant regardless of the talents and gifts we are born with. He himself, born with a severe disability that rendered his legs useless, John defied medical opinion by refusing to die. Today John speaks all around the world to tens of thousands, whom he leaves breathless.
John has spoken to over 6,000,000 people internationally. His audiences in China alone are in excess of 15,000. He is an Australia Day Ambassador and was invited to speak to the Australian Olympic Team throughout the Olympics.
Australian Rugby Union Team, the Wallabies called on John to boost their attitudes for the final match of the series against the British Irish Lions, where they then went on to win the deciding Test match to secure the series for the first time in history between these two teams. Rod McQueen, John Eales & George Gregan publicly acknowledged John for getting the Wallabies over the line, saying ‘John showed us that by believing in yourself, anything is possible.’
John plays a significant role in schools around Australia and the world, believing in youth leadership programs. John has been invited into more than 4,000 schools throughout the world & speaks on topics such as; Anti-Bullying, Resilience, Goal Setting, Overcoming Obstacles & Getting The Best Out of Life. Throughout Youth Forums in Australia, John is the most sort after speaker to join these forums. These Forums include; ‘Young Leaders Day’, ‘Step To The Future’, ‘Step Up Foundation’, ‘Kids In The Community’, etc… all dedicated to assisting Australia’s youth in helping them to reach their full potential.
As a family man, husband and father, the Coutis’ profile is strong, both in the community & in business. In October 2004 John, and his family, joined with notable Australian sporting greats such as Allan Border, Stephen Waugh and Ian Healy, Ben Darwin, John Lazarou & many others, put together a charity walk from Ipswich to the Gold Coast (124 kms). They raised almost $40,000 for three charities that are very close to their hearts; Hydrocephalus, Amputee (Limb Kids) & Fibromyalgia. These challenges affect the Coutis family directly, with John and Leanne’s son, Clayton having Hydrocephalus, John being an Amputee & Leanne’s mum Dorothy suffering from Fibromyalgia. The walk was simply titled HAF. One of the families proudest moments was not only being nominated, but taking out the National Family of the Year Award.
