David Grunwald brings over 30 years of enterprise technical expertise and 12 years of higher education teaching experience to the field of machine learning. As a former Principal Technical Support Engineer at Oracle Corporation, he specialized in AI database technologies, data analytics, and cloud infrastructure, managing roughly 15,000 service requests for Fortune 100 customers. He holds advanced certifications in Oracle AI Vector Search, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP) with Python, and is a Linux Foundation Certified IT Associate (LFCA).
In addition to his engineering career, David served as Adjunct Faculty and an Instructional Associate at De Anza College for over a decade, where he developed curriculum and taught courses in American government and English. His ability to translate complex technical concepts for beginners is further evidenced by his ProGrammar technical blog, where he authors "Qwik Guides" on PyTorch, transformers, image diffusion and other programming language topics. Since 2020, he has been an active member of Real Python, an online learning company that teaches Python programming through tutorials, courses, articles, quizzes, and training resources for beginners through professional developers.
He is also the Founder of Astrolabe Star (ASTR AI), a venture focused on AI decision provenance and governance, and the author of The Principles of Swing and Balance, which applies a "quantum lens" framework to analyze complex global systems.
He holds a Master’s degree from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington.
