They say “God laughs when we make plans.” That is certainly what He was doing while Julie Dectis was finishing her engineering degree. Julie had her life planned out. She would soon be rising to the top in her career, getting married, starting a family, and living out the perfect American life. Shortly after marrying her husband and having her first child, Julie’s plans were turned upside down when her baby was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare neuromuscular disease. Angry, depressed and overwhelmed, Julie had no idea that God had a much bigger plan to bring her close to Him. Through pain and heartbreak, Julie gave her life to God and was able to flourish. Today, she spends her time speaking and writing about her experiences, while giving all glory to God for bringing her to the light.
