I've always loved to tell stories. In fact, my pre-kindergarten teachers voted me best storyteller in the class. But, my passion for writing did not begin until years later when my mother bought me my first book series, The Christy Miller Series. It was a Young Adult series written by Robin Jones Gunn. I read the first installment. I was hooked. I devoured every book in the series, fascinated by how the author used the everyday experiences of a teenage girl to craft a compelling story.

At the age of 10, I began to write my own Young Adult series. I determined to use my sometimes comical and often awkward life experiences as creative fodder. I craved to craft realistic fiction. As a matured, I realized that realistic fiction could do more than entertain. It could advocate. I dug deep. I explored my passions about the value of all human life and the devastating impact of injustice on society, and I wrote. And, wrote. And, wrote. As I wrote, I grew. As an author. As a person.

My sister gave me the idea for Disposable. It was the product of a morning chat at the breakfast nook. Over the years, the book has evolved into what I hope is a captivating tale. And, above all, I hope it is true to my writing motto: "Advocate and entertain".
