B. Steven Verney began Transcendental Meditation (TM) in April of 1974 during his spring break from Plymouth State College in NH. Encouraged by his experiences in meditation and by the knowledge taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Steve left Plymouth and went on to become a teacher of TM. Maharishi made Steve a teacher in July of 1976. After teaching for two years, Steve enrolled in Maharishi International University, completing his degree in philosophy in 1981. It was there at the university he met his future wife Kay Noble. The two were married in 1982. They had two boys born to them, Michael in 1985 and Jonathan in 1987. Both sons are their parents’ pride and joy.
For the next twenty-five years, after graduating from MIU, Steve and Kay started and ran three small businesses. In 2006, when their wholesale bakery was sold, Steve began writing "The Best of All Possible Worlds", a spiritual-visionary novel about spiritual evolution and the pathless path to enlightenment. The novel called upon his own experience of more than thirty years of regular practice of meditation. He carefully weaved a compelling story within a story with rich well-developed characters in a way that readers, regardless of their backgrounds, could access Maharishi's Vedic knowledge while enjoying a great tale. Some of his readers have commented that Steve’s book was "life transforming".
Currently Steve is working on a new novel that continues the journey of spiritual unfoldment. Although the book is not a sequel, it will be a companion book to his first novel. A blog post is also underway that will contain stories, antidotes, and commentary on some of his favorite books, along with posts that will discuss spiritual evolution and higher states of consciousness.
Steve and Kay live in Wellfleet, MA, one of the outermost towns on Cape Cod. They are both certified teachers of Transcendental Meditation and are the co-directors of the Outer Cape TM Center. When not writing or teaching, Steve loves to surf, stand up paddleboard, and sail his 18’ catboat, the Merry Promise. He enjoys reading and watching movies and tending to and harvesting his large vegetable garden.
