W. Peter Elliott was born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto. Summers and vacations were spent with his maternal grandparents in the northern Ontario mining town of Kirkland Lake.
After graduating from Toronto's RPI in Business Administration, he became a marketing representative in the global fashion textile industry and eventually moved to Montreal. During this period he was also very active with Becket Players Theatre Inc., a charitable community theatre group raising funds for children's medical needs. It was through this association that he met the woman who became his wife.
They moved to a small city in Ontario to begin the next chapter of their lives together and started a family, which was the inspiration for writing The Magic Sleigh Bell. As a stay-at-home parent he was deeply involved in the lives of their two sons, saying, "I waited a long time to start a family and it was important that I dedicated myself to doing the best parenting I could." The writing, publishing and marketing efforts for The Magic Sleigh Bell were undertaken with the support of his wife and sons, but always with a family-first attitude. His whimsical contemporary tribute to family, Christmas traditions and believing in Santa Claus became a National Bestseller in Canada with its print edition, which was truly an amazing accomplishment for a self-published, seasonal book to achieve. He and his wife still live near the north-east shore of Lake Ontario and their sons are young adults who make them very proud.
The year 2021 marked the 25th Anniversary of the publishing of the print edition of The Magic Sleigh Bell. It is also available as an eBook to quickly download for a new generation of readers to enjoy on a variety of devices.
A true believer in the magic of Christmas, Peter is currently, as always, preparing for the upcoming Yuletide season.
