Susan Harris O'Connor

Susan Harris O’Connor, MSW is a pioneer and national leading voice on transracial adoption. Her groundbreaking autobiographical narratives are compiled in The Harris Narratives: An Introspective Study of a Transracial Adoptee. Since 1996, they have been performed over 100 times as keynote addresses, lectures and featured performances at places such as Harvard Medical School Conference series, Smith College Summer Lecture series, Yale Law, The Judicial Branch and the Office of the Child Advocate of Connecticut, The Governor’s Commission on Child Placement in Foster Care and Adoption for the State of Rhode Island, Massachusetts General Hospital, NAACP, Starbucks Coffee and KAAN. Published by the Yale Journal of Law and Feminism and Adoption and Fostering, Susan received the 2014 Outstanding Practitioner in Adoption Award from St. John’s University and the 2016 President’s Award from American Adoption Congress.
