Mike Marn has been an award-winning ad agency creative director, a faculty member at several universities, a humor columnist in several magazines, and a stand-up comedian who has been known to make actual people laugh. He is also an animal lover and (obviously) a sports fan.
His fan status is complex and tortured. Born in Cleveland, he roots for the Browns. (The most-recently 1-15 Browns.) As a long-time Chicago resident (including during the LONE Super Bowl year) he developed empathy for the Bears, and can actually name most of the 4,765 different starting quarterbacks (just an estimate) they have had since that Super Bowl year.
He currently lives in Michigan, so he is forced to pay attention to the lately-slightly-less-pathetic Detroit Lions, though he was able to experience their 0-16 year up close and personal. How can you not feel for a team that is jealous of the Browns?
Frequently visiting and vacationing in Wisconsin, Mike has become a huge Packer backer over the years. He admires the franchise history, the countless legends, and the fact that the smallest market in the league has the smartest owners, all 360,760 of them. Not smug rich guys - FANS!
One more thing: Mike appeared on "Wheel of Fortune" many years ago, where he spun three "bankrupts" and two "lose a turns" and walked away with NOTHING, though he did make Pat and Vanna laugh. And he says that he is still enjoying the case of rose-scented trash bags and ample supply of Centrum Silver he scored as lovely parting gifts.
