Food is not just nourishment; it nourishes the spirit when prepared with love and joy. The basics remain at the core of our kitchens, and comfort food recipes that remind us of our beloved family meals remain at the heart of our kitchen experience.
Lisa Lambert grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as the middle of seven children. She enjoyed helping her mother, Marilyn Wilchuck, bake and has continued her penchant for baking with her own family. If you are invited over for dinner, you can be sure that you will be trying new recipes. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and his abstract art is featured in this cookbook.
Lisa worked in media for over 30 years in Saskatoon, both radio and television.
She is a voracious reader and collected inspirational quotes over the years.
She has an extensive volunteer history with many organizations and received the President’s Award of Distinction from Volunteer Saskatoon in 2005.
Lisa was elected to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Board of Education in 2003 and served as a trustee until she was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood constituency in the 2016 provincial election.
She hopes this cookbook featuring simple, home-style food will serve as a practical guide for both new and experienced cooks and bring back comforting childhood memories. She believes that recipes that are easy and economical are usually the best, so the recipes do not have complicated directions or gourmet ingredients. Many of the recipes offer ways to vary the flavour ingredients.
