After a successful business career, finally as a Vice President of Human Resources, Don O'Neal went back to the University of Illinois to earn a Ph.D. in Strategic Management.
During the next 19 years as a faculty member, he co-edited 6 volumes of academic papers, published by John Wiley & Sons, authored three textbooks published by American Press Boston, and earned the Distinguished University Service Award for excellence in scholarship, and the Pearson Faculty Award for excellence in teaching.
Professor O'Neal served as Scholar-in-Residence and Senior Member of the Governor's Illinois Strategic Planning Advisory Council, from 1999-2002.
As Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois Springfield, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he continues to teach, and remains active in conducting seminars and workshops, and leading planning retreats for corporate, not-for-profit, and governmental organizations.
He has also published two non-fiction books: "If Not Now, When?" and "If Not You, Who?" and two memoirs: "So Proudly We Hailed" and "By the Dawn's Early Light" all through Amazon Direct Publishing.
