Matt Ellison

Raised free-range in Montana, he attended Reed College then University of Montana, studying creative writing with Jim Welch, Richard Hugo, and William Kittredge, and playwrighting with several works produced in the UM Repertoire’s annual seasons. He 'emigrated' to New York City to work as an actor and Actor's Equity stage-manager, while attending Columbia University to receive an MFA in fiction, Richard Price and Edmund White as editor/advisors. His first novel, 'Return to Independence Basin' was featured by Kirkus Reviews ‘Recommended Indie Books’, February 2017. He has 4 subsequent novels available and is currently completing a near future climate crisis novel.
