Bruce Bibee (b. 1945) grew up in the Los Angeles area, attended a Catholic seminary through high school (until he was thrown out for 'intellectual arrogance'), joined the Navy and worked as a journalist (until found unfit for the military due to his hippie leanings), and landed in the construction industry (during the summer), and the hospitality industry (in the winter). He began Kung Fu San Soo in 1972 eventually earning the rank of Master (8th degree black belt) under Ted Sias. In the late 1960s he moved to Alaska and worked on the North Slope for about 5 years. He returned to Alaska in 1981 and lives there still. In 1985, he took a job as a para-professional anger management counselor at a local abused women shelter, went on to design an anger management program for Ft. Richardson Army Community Services, and administered that program for 8 years. Concurrently, he went into private practice as primarily a 'trauma' counselor, and decided it was time to go back to college to earn a Master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology. Along the way, he noticed there were few works to aid trauma survivors in understanding the healing process. His first book addressed that need. His second book came from the insistence of his clients who wanted to know his 'theoretical orientation.' The third book is another overview of the confusing area of PTSD. He still teaches kung fu and maintains a private counseling practice in Anchorage, AK.
