Peter Weil is sociocultural anthropologist, a contributing editor and quarterly columnist for the typewriter journal ETCetera (http://etconline.org) for a decade, and an avid typewriter and ephemera researcher and collector. He was drawn to typewriters and their culture history after studying material culture in Africa, especially art and the rituals related to it, in West Africa for nearly four decades. This book is the result of the combination of his research on writing machines for twenty years with the long-term research on the same subject and professional journalistic and photographic experience of his co-author, Paul Robert.
Paul Robert is a journalist and photographer. He is the editor and publisher of the Virtual Typewriter Museum (typewritermuseum.org), as well as the author of several books, including a biography of typewriter inventor George Blickensderfer.
