ALETTA STEVENS is the author of 'Looking for Uncle Joop: A Long-Lost Story from Nazi-Occupied Holland' (Ashgrove Publishing, 2017), published in Dutch as Het tweede schot: Een familieverhaal uit bezet Friesland' (Noordboek, 2019), and 'The Remarkable Journey of Mr Prins: WWII, Jewish Refugees and the Bath-Alkmaar Friendship' (Bath: Brown Dog Books, 2020), to be published in Dutch by Bornmeer Noordboek in May 2021. Of dual Indonesian-Dutch heritage, Aletta was raised in Holland and went on to graduate in English Language from the University of Sheffield, UK. She works as a writer and professional translator; her translation of the biography of Dutch film director Paul Verhoeven was published by Faber and Faber. Aletta is a founding member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting, and the Bath group of the Society of Authors. Married to an Englishman, she has two grown-up children and lives in Wiltshire.
