Over a career as a physicist spanning almost forty years, Ross Barrett conducted research and published over 60 research papers in the fields of experimental nuclear physics, theoretical nuclear physics, atomic physics, signal processing, and underwater acoustics.
Recently he teamed up with two Italian colleagues to produce a book aimed at explaining physics (essentially all of it from Galileo to Gravity Waves) in non-mathematical terms to non-physicists. This became “Physics: The Ultimate Adventure”. He followed this up with another popular science book, with co-author P.P. Delsanto, entitled "Don't Be Afraid of Physics".
In another area of endeavour, he has written plays for the stage, seven of which have been produced in professional partnerships in Adelaide. Four one-act plays have been gathered into an anthology: "Love in the Chook-House." He has also written two novels, "Final Round” and "Double Blind", which are listed here.
