When I'm not practicing optometry in Sherman, Texas, I often have my nose in my laptop writing. Face of the Bell Witch, my debut novel, and, its sequel El Coronel, are both multi-award winners.
I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in Miami, Florida, where I was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Now I'm living just north of Dallas, where rooting for the 'Boys does not seem out-of-place! I also rabidly support for my undergraduate alma mater, the Florida State Seminoles. I was a student trainer for the football team in the late 1970's, just prior to Bobby Bowden stepping in and turning around the fortunes of FSU.
I received my Bachelor's in Psychology there, followed by my Master's from Virginia Tech and my Doctor of Optometry degree form the University of Houston. I've lived in Sherman since 1986, and have six children (5 girls and 1 son) and sixteen grandchildren between my second wife, Debbie, and me.
I'm active in the local Chamber of Commerce, the Sherman Community Players theater and also enjoy playing keyboards, photography, and painting. There are over 200 copywritten songs in my catalog, including three full length rock musicals, DROCKula, 52nd Street, and Piano Man, the latter two incorporating the great songs of Billy Joel. (I am currently attempting to get those musicals in his hands.)
Hopefully, my books will appeal to a wide range of readers, as I try to include elements of interest for as many as possible! My newest novel, Reach is a family saga/love story dealing with the difficult topic of dementia.
