Ramesh Hariharan is a computer scientist, bioinformatician, and entrepreneur.
He is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Strand Life
Sciences, and an Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
Strand Life Sciences was founded in the year 2000 as a spin-off from IISc
by Ramesh and three colleagues who were fascinated by the use of computer
algorithms in biology and medicine. The stories in this book come
from first-hand experience at Strand working with hundreds of patients.
Ramesh is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and a recipient of
the first Dewang Mehta Award for Innovation in Information Technology
awarded by the Goverment of India. He was also selected to the MIT
Technology Review’s top-100 innovators list in 2002. Ramesh lives in
Bengaluru with his wife, two children, and parents.
