Jess Browning

Jess Browning is former Director of Global Trade, Transportation and Logistics Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has an MPA Degree from the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle.

At the local level he served on the Freight Mobility Roundtable; at the national level he served on the Transportation Research Board's International Trade and Transportation Committee; and at the International level he served as a U.S. Delegate to APEC’s Transportation Working Group.

In retirement, he helped form a Consortium of eight international universities to do joint research and education in the fields of business, advanced technologies, logistics and marine affairs.

Jess is a former entrepreneur having engaged in manufacturing and global trade. He holds eight patents in environmental and process control equipment.

He believes that economic development takes place at many scales that includes: “from what takes place on the plant floor to what takes place in various regions of the world.” He finds no difficulty in moving from one to the other in order to promote economic development.

Jess is an author of thirty four books and has edited five more with more to follow. He has given many talks, lectures and keynote addresses at home and abroad. He is married and lives with his wife near Seattle. They have 4 daughters, 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 4 great granddaughters with 1 great grandson and another known to be on the way.
