David Somerfleck

David Somerfleck writes speculative fiction that refuses to look away — from surveillance states, corporate dystopias, and the slow erosion of the human in the name of order. His debut novel, One Grain of Sand, Book One of the Shards of a Shattered Sky trilogy, won the Literary Titan Book Award and holds a silver medal from Reader's Favorite. It is catalogued in the Library of Virginia's Indie Virginia collection.

A former digital marketing consultant, journalist, political campaign advisor, and workshop instructor for organizations including Microsoft and the WordPress Foundation, Somerfleck brings the diagnostic eye of someone who has watched systems fail people from the inside. His literary influences run from Bradbury and Gaiman to Philip K. Dick and Harlan Ellison, with roots reaching into Romantic poetry.

He lives and writes in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he is at work on Books Two and Three of the trilogy.
