Prophet Ray Shipman

Elder RayVon L. Shipman was born in Detroit, Michigan and was saved at age 9. During a revival, at age 12, he received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Soon after, he felt a call to the ministry. God spoke to him through Jeremiah, Chapter 1, “he was called from his mother’s womb, as a prophet.” God used him to minister to adults and youth alike. God used many people during that time to mentor him including the pastor and leaders of New Christ Temple COGIC and his father, Pastor Leon K. Shipman. His father, Pastor Leon K. Shipman, Sr., began a ministry where Elder Ray served as a deacon for two years. He was also appointed to oversee the worship team, Sunday school, work with the youth group, finances, and even maintained the church in the absence of his parents. He was licensed to preach through the COGIC and continued to grow and develop.

After attending a deliverance seminar at Evangel Christian Churches, he felt the leading of the Lord to covenant with that ministry. For one year, he was faithful at his father’s church and Evangel Christian Churches. Being released by his father from Walk In The Spirit he officially joined ECC. After joining, he came in covenant with Evangel Association of Churches and Ministries (EACM). He soon noticed many changes and an increase in his ministry. Because of the network of prayer, God began to speak clearly about his next step. After hearing the Lord speak, “roots down, fruit up, build another man’s ministry,” he took the position on staff as the Youth Pastor and worked faithfully for 7 years. He was also an engineer on the radio, director of the drama department and worked as an assistant lead on the prophetic, deliverance and inner healing teams.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies from Destiny School of Ministry, and was offered the opportunity to pastor his own church called, Evangel Mt Clemens on Joy Blvd, in Mt Clemens. In a matter of 3 months, God increased the church from 12-60 people. God saw fit to reposition him again, and returned home to Walk In The Spirit COGIC, where he was ordained and began working with his father in ministry.

Life happened, and Elder Ray left the ministry for a season but continued to try and find his footing in ministry and reconcile his personal issues. God saw fit for him to do a community even in which he was ministered to by Dr. Darthanian Nichols of Breaking Chains Outreach Ministries. Within weeks, Elder Ray, left the relationship he was in and as the song says, started chasing after God. Currently He has earned his Bachelor’s in Business, is pursuing his MBA.

Prophet Ray, has traveled and ministered extensively and has completed several books and continues to work on others. Prophet Ray is also available for ministry in many areas, he has been on recording albums, featured at Detroit Praise in the Park, as well as ministered in several churches, schools, colleges and conferences.
