Bravery

“The quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face fear or difficulty.”

— Merriam-Webster

Bravery is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes, it’s a quiet strength we dig deep to find. It shapes our future, opens doors to new opportunities, and lays the groundwork for lasting confidence and emotional resilience. With bravery, we not only overcome challenges—we discover who we truly are and what we're capable of.

Learning to be brave in childhood can spark a lifelong mindset of grit, perseverance, and growth. It’s in these early moments—trying something new, facing a fear, standing up for oneself—that self-confidence begins to take root and flourish.

At Brave Kid Press, our mission is to nurture that bravery from the beginning. We create children’s books that celebrate self-discovery, strength, individuality, resilience, and advocacy—stories that inspire kids to embrace who they are and face life’s transitions with courage.

We’re proud to introduce our debut series, Louie’s Little Lessons—a heartfelt collection of books featuring Louie, a brave little elephant navigating big milestones in the preschool and early elementary years. From potty training and picky eating to welcoming a new sibling and navigating big emotions, Louie’s adventures help kids feel seen, supported, and strong.

About the Author:

Liz Fletcher has been passionate about art, creativity, and storytelling since childhood. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from the University of San Francisco. Her creative journey and love for imaginative expression led her to establish the publishing company Brave Kid Press and launch her debut children's book series, Louie’s Little Lessons.

The series was inspired by the birth of her first child (now one of four), when she realized how few children's books focused on encouraging courage, confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience during important developmental milestones—like potty training, trying new foods, welcoming a sibling, or transitioning to a big kid bed.

Liz wanted her children—and children everywhere—to see change as exciting and empowering, not just something they were told to do. Her goal was to create stories that help young readers discover their inner bravery and approach new experiences with confidence and joy.

Today, Louie has touched the lives of thousands of families worldwide. Liz continues to write to foster emotional growth, self-belief, and courage in every child.
