Simon Horrocks is a versatile creative professional with expertise in writing, filmmaking, and YouTube content creation. He has shared his knowledge as a mobile video instructor at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and has conducted workshops for media teams at companies like Veolia.
Until 2006, he mostly composed music for TV and wrote screenplays. In 2009 he set out to shoot his debut feature film Third Contact using a camcorder and virtually no crew. In 2013, the film premiered at the BFI IMAX in London before touring internationally to cinemas in UK, Belgium, Switzerland, USA and Canada.
In 2015 he wrote and directed Kosmos, a sci-fi web series featuring Virgina Hey (Mad Max 2, Farscape) and Terry Molloy (Dr Who). He later joined Andrea Holle’s Mobile Motion Film Festival, a Swiss-based event dedicated to smartphone shot films. From 2018-20 he wrote and directed 5 short films on Samsung S8 & S9 devices as a sci-fi anthology series Silent Eye which featured on Amazon Prime.
In recent years, he's focused on teaching smartphone videography online via his dedicated YouTube channels and his personal Patreon page.
