Pilar Tena

Pilar TENA is a writer and a cultural administrator. She was the director of the Instituto Cervantes in Greece until January 2026. Previously, until 2022, she held the same position in the Netherlands for five years. Graduated in Law and also in Information Sciences (Journalism), she has held management positions in different foundations and both public and private institutions (Elcano Royal Institute, Abertis Foundation, Federico García Lorca Foundation, Spain ’92 Foundation, etc.). Currently, after living in different cities around the world, from Madrid or Dublin to Sydney, New Delhi, London, Stockholm, Geneva, New York or Amsterdam, she lives in Athens.

She is the author of seven books: Los ojos de la diosa (2025), now on its second edition; Aritmética familiar (a collection of short stories:Tres Hermanas, 2022); Fin de semana Weekend (Tres Hermanas, 2020), Luciana (Tres Hermanas, 2018), La Embajadora (Roca, 2016), Contratiempos / Setbacks (Salto de Página, 2014) and Cómo sobrevivir a un despido y volver a trabajar / How to survive a layoff ... and go back to work (Pirámide, 2013).

Her book Aritmética familiar has been recently published in Greece by Vakxicón under the title: Η αριθμητική της οικογένειας (Εκδόσεις Βακχικόν, 2024).
