James Larkin

James Larkin has been a newspaper journalist and PR consultant for six decades. He has experience in Britain, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. He was born in 1938 in Liverpool, England and attended the Royal Grammar School, Colchester. He later was a law student at Grays Inn, London, before joining the Royal Air Force in 1957 in which he served in the Middle East (Iraq and Oman) and Singapore and Malaya (Malayan Emergency). He saw active service in the Oman Rebellion 1957, was on the last plane out at the Iraq Revolution 1958 and served in the Malay Emergency jungle war. He speaks basic Malay and French and smatterings of other languages. His first book - Poetry by James Larkin - covers poems from when he was 13 years old until the present day. They are mostly short romantic pieces - some philosophical - and written in simple English. In his later years James has become a strong advocate of animal welfare and environmental protection and has now produced several poems in support of this under the title of Animal Poetry. He has also produced This Age of Eating - Time for Change a book on nutrition and weight loss. Next he plans a romance drama based on his experiences during the Malay Emergency and a book depicting his life long memories that cover several historical and famous events and personalities. His interests include international vegetarian cooking and music, history, nature and all other life forms. He often sings to his pets which currently include a ferret, three rats, a mouse, a cockatiel and a dog. He now lives in Australia with his wife Sue and twin sons James and Anthony.
