Javier Carrasco

Javier Carrasco was born in Ceuta (Spain) in 1962. He studied Philosophy and Literature at the University of Granada, Spain, specializing in English Philology. In this period he belonged as a musician to the group 'Druidas' (Druids), interpreting music of Celtic and medieval origin (Andalusi, Sephardic and Christian: cantigas de Alfonso X el Sabio). In 2001 he won the IX Ciudad de Purchena Narrative Contest with the historical novel “La Cantiga de Pedro de Aranda”, published by Arráez Editores (2007), and set in the court of Alfonso X the Wise (13th century). In 2013 he published the novel "The Tree of Life" about man's incessant struggle to defeat death (Transbooks Publishing House, e-book format). In 2016 he published the historical and crime novel "The Portsmouth Mystery" (KDP Amazon) set in England at the beginning of the 19th century, an intense struggle between rationalism and superstition. In 2021 he published the historical novel "The highway of death" (KDP Amazon), about the crime perpetrated on the road from Malaga to Almería in February 1937, in the middle of the Civil War, and that both victors and losers hid for years. In this same year he published an anthology of 20 stories on different themes (adventures, mystery, terror, humor) entitled "Stories to read by the fire." His are also the stories "El libro de los Prodigios" (2014), "Yaya el Jabegote" (2019) and "Una singular historia" (2020) published by La Voz de Almería and Arráez Editores in their collection Narradores Almerienses. His most recent novel is "Campanas del Infierno" (KDP/Ex Libris JC, 2024) an original dectective story with great dosis of humour and horror.
