Chris Chaney is an Eastern Kentucky native. He works as a planner by day but spends most of his days dreaming about adventures outside the cubicle walls. He was once a rock climbing guide (and assures his two children he was pretty cool in ye olden times), a whitewater paddler, an aspiring photographer (even had a few images published here and there), road cyclist, and now dabbles too much in trail building and not enough in writing.
He enjoys science fiction but writes mostly adventure memoir-ish stuff. He's kept a regular blog since 2009. Its first iteration was a blog entitled "From the Pavement's Edge" at BlogSpot and now he keeps court at "The Chainring Report" also at BlogSpot.
Chris has been married since 2000 and has a son and a daughter who are far smarter than he'll ever be. His wife keeps him honest and on track (most of the time), and is the reason he's kept at this darned writing for so long.
His current writing projects (as of Winter 2017) are a collection of short writing about adventure recreation in the Red River Gorge of Eastern Kentucky and a novel that is his interpretation of Edward Abbey's The Monkey Wrench Gang set in Central Appalachia.
