For many people, food is just a necessity. It's an inconvenience that must be dealt with a few times day. For others, it is a dangerous obsession, putting them at risk of obesity and disease. Selena Lancaster firmly believes in a balance between these polar approaches to food.

From a very early age, Selena amazed and surprised her family and others with her fascination with all things culinary. 'She was born with a kitchen utensil in her hand', her proud mother would say. As she grew up she never lost this appetite for exploration in the kitchen and beyond.

Selena wasn't content to become just another cook though. She firmly believes that the physical and mental health of people can be largely affected by the food that eat and the attitude they have towards food.

Selena, who currently lives in Hong Kong and fully embraces the culinary culture there, has devoted most of her time to studying the many different diets and how they impact us as individuals and as a population.

Selena loves cooking and, of course, eating what she cooks, as does everyone else she knows. She will rarely cook the same dish twice and hardly ever sticks to rigid recipes. Selena loves to experiment with different dishes to come up with food that suits different diets.

Through her books, Selena wants everyone to enjoy food, even when they are in the middle of diets or they are recovering from weight loss surgery.

Selena is on a personal mission to wake everyone up to the idea that food can be enjoyed without excess or danger. This has been with her from the start.
