'Puffin Therapy', Julie's first novel of the 'Mermaid Dreams' series, has won an Honourable Mention in the 2021 'A Woman's Write' Unpublished Novel Competition in the USA. She is currently seeking representation for the series.

Her first non-fiction book, 'Child Actors on the London Stage c.1600', has been well received and was shortlisted for the Society of Theatre Research Book Award.

She was a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow at the Science Museum, London focusing on the redesign of the Medicine Gallery. Her research topic was the provenance of the Giustiniani Medicine Chest dating from the mid 1500's. See The Science Museum Journal for Spring 2019 for more about this
