James Whitaker (1970- ) was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up with three brothers and three sisters. Upon graduation from high school, James joined the United States Marine Corps and spent the next 21 years faithfully serving his country. After retiring from the military, James worked for several for-profit colleges and also served some time as a Corrections Officer. Also during his time after the military, James earned his Bachelor's degree in Management and his MBA soon after that. James is an avid lover of street bikes and loves motorcycling. He also loves running, weightlifting, and doing all types of physical activity to stay in tip top shape after retiring from the military. James also has a big time passion for all types of fishing. He always tries to set a great example for his children to look up to and does everything to make sure they learn life lessons the correct way and contribute to society by becoming productive and law-abiding citizens. One of the main inspirations for writing this book is to hopefully make my fellow African-Americans aware that before we can place the blame on others for our shortcomings that we must make sure that we are not the cause. Also, to point out that before we can complain about others not helping to better our race that we must first do all we can to uplift our people.
