Tomi Rues is a college teacher turned children's librarian. She considers herself lucky to be surrounded by children and books every day. She is a literacy advocate. She also enjoys working out and baking cookies. It is her hope these two balance each other out! She loves reading, nature, and traveling (especially to places that have independent bookstores and art museums!)
She has written for Rosen Publishing’s LevelUp adaptive reading program and Mitchell Lane Publishing. In 2025, she had two middle-grade nonfiction books published, with the second book receiving a Booklist Review and School Library Journal Review. She has also been featured in Prairie Ink: A Literary Annual, Lifehack magazine, and Midlife Boulevard magazine. She has created theme-based writing journals, and a nonfiction book titled Being Happy Now: A year of looking for the good every day.
She is a member of SCBWI, ILA (International Literacy Assn.), and several critique writing groups.
