GM Yury Shulman

Yury Shulman Yury was born in Minsk, Belarus. He,became Belarus Champion in 1994 and an International Grandmaster at the age of 20. He was the 2006 US Open Champion and has qualified to play in several World Cup Championships. Yury is a nationally recognized chess teacher, and coached the US Women’s Olympic team in 2006 and 2014 and US Olympic team in 2012-2013. Yury was ranked in the top 100 in the World and is also a 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist as part of Team USA. He was a Silver World Team Medalist in 2010, and became the 2008 US Chess Champion. Yury and Rishi co-founded the award winning Chess Without Borders non-profit program. Yury teaches chess in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
