Ron Kasprisin

Ron Kasprisin is an architect, urban planner, watercolor artist and Professor Emeritus, University of Washington. Ron lives on Whidbey Island northwest of Seattle with his yellow Labrador "bacchus"--god of wine and celebration of life--okay, he celebrates life and Ron drinks the wine. In between painting and writing, Ron enjoys fishing in southeast Alaska and in the French River in Ontario, Canada. Ron has five books available through Amazon: "Play in creative problem-solving" (Routledge 2016); "Urban Design: the composition of complexity" (Routledge 2011) and being revised for a new release in 2018; "Design Media" (John Wiley & Sons 1999); "Visual Thinking for architects and designers" with Professor Emeritus James Pettinari, University of Oregon (John Wiley & Sons 1995); and "Watercolor in Architectural Design" (Van Nostrand Reinhold 1989). "Urban Design: the composition of complexity" and "Visual Thinking for architects and planners" have been translated into Common Chinese with China Machine Press and China Architecture and Building Press, respectively.

Ron integrates his watercolor painting process with his interests in teaching design and creativity elements and principles, as design is a function of art. His watercolors have been accepted in juried exhibitions, including: Western Colorado Watercolor Society (3) (Grand Junction CO), Northwest Watercolor Society (3) (Seattle WA), Wyoming Watercolor Society (2), St. Louis Artists Guild, East Side Association of Fine Arts (Bellevue WA), Peninsula Art League (Gig Harbor, WA), Barns and Farms (Kuwaunee WI). Ron writes and paints in his studio among the majestic Douglas Firs outside of the seaside village of Langley WA on beautiful Whidbey Island.
