Billy Haake was born in 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina. His generation grew up alongside the other new-borns of post-WWII America: the atomic age, television, and Rock 'N Roll.
He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the early sixties and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He served thirteen months with the III MAF Headquarters in Danang, South Vietnam.
Billy has been sporadically writing essays, fiction, short stories and published magazine articles for most of his life. His short screenplay "Sugar Creek Prelude" was produced as a video and won the Charlotte Film Community's "Inspire Charlotte" contest in 2012. It can be seen on www.vimeo.com/billyhaake along with several other videos he has written and produced. "You Are The Way, Jesus" is a music video he shot and co-produced with Oscar Oling and is also available on Billy's Vimeo page.
"Solomon Foxly" is his first novel. Like many authors, he started it several years ago, but only recently went back to the unfinished manuscript and completed the work. He credits his son, Dana, with the encouragement and gentle chiding it took to see the book to completion.
Createspace was instrumental in editing and helping him polish the story.
He is currently finishing his first full-length screenplay and has already begun a sequel to "Solomon Foxly".
He is a cancer survivor, lives in Waxhaw, North Carolina, and can be contacted through Facebook.
