My first taste of creative writing began in elementary school. When first prize is a large bag of M&M's, you can be certain competition will be fierce. I have no true recollection of the genre but I'm certain there was a fair amount of thrilling schoolyard drama and shenanigans. The candy was great but weaving the tale ignited my creative nature and I was hooked.

Unfortunately, life has a way of leading us in different directions. I continued to write short stories and articles but mainly for fun.

I regard unique people or situations from our past as innovative nuggets to be carefully stored safely away. A particular phrase, a pungent smell or certain sound can cause any number of distant memories to come flooding forward. Of course, not all are pleasant but if carefully woven together, an entertaining thriller might be the end result.

The Monitor, a work in progress for quite some time, is my first attempt at fabrication. No pun intended...well, perhaps just a little.
