I published "Playing Till We Have to Go -- A Jewish childhood in inner-city L.A." in November 2020. It's a memoir about growing up in the early '60s with Holocaust survivors, blacks, Asians and working-class whites, before we "moved up" to the city's American Jewish west side. In 2017 I published "No Country for Jewish Liberals," a memoir set in Israel, where I have lived the second half of my life, earning my living as a journalist. I'm married with two grown sons, and sing lead for The NightCallers, a '60s-and'70s rock 'n' soul cover band.
