Alexander Orwin

I grew up in Toronto, studied at its main university, but then spent several years living in the Middle East and Europe. These travels are the source of my interest in Islam, and my exposure to a broad range of religions, cultures, and arts finds expression in this book. I returned to pursue my doctorate at the University of Chicago, held a postdoc at Harvard, and am about to begin my first teaching job at Louisiana State University. I now look forward to studying and teaching Islamic thought in yet another new setting.
