Mark J. Price

Mark J. Price is an author who helps beginners and everyday knowledge workers get real, practical value out of AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, and Siri AI. He's based in Brighton, on England's south coast, close enough to London and yet breezy enough to survive the increasingly sweltering British summers.

His focus today is turning AI into a genuinely useful sidekick for people who've never written a line of code by showing them how to think alongside ChatGPT and Claude to learn faster, write better, and get more done at work. That instinct for translating complex technology into something approachable comes from two decades as a technical author: since 2016 he's written more than 20 titles for Packt, including ten editions of a bestselling C# and .NET series, selling more than 150,000 copies in total. That work started when he wrote Microsoft's first official C# training courses in Redmond while the language was still in alpha.

Teaching is in his blood: his mother was a maths teacher, his sister a primary school teacher, his grandfather taught at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and teachers run through his uncles and cousins too. Writing books extended that instinct, allowing him to reach far more people, in far more places, than any classroom could. His way of making a dent in the universe.

He taught GCSE and A-Level maths in two London secondary schools, holds a Computer Science BSc (Hons) from the University of Bristol, and spent years as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. That experience now shapes how he breaks AI down for readers with no technical background.

Mark is active in Packt's Discord channels, where you can live chat with him and other readers about his books and the technologies they cover.
