Matthew E. Gladden

Matthew E. Gladden is a management consultant and award-winning philosopher, writer, and computer game designer whose work focuses on the organizational and philosophical implications of emerging technologies relating to virtual reality, artificial intelligence, social robotics, neuroprosthetic enhancement, and artificial life. He lectures internationally on such topics, and his research has been published in journals like Multimodal Technologies and Interaction, Frontiers in Neuroscience, Social Sciences, the International Journal of Contemporary Management, Creatio Fantastica, The Polish Journal of Aesthetics, and Annales: Ethics in Economic Life, as well as by Springer, IOS Press, Ashgate Publishing, and the MIT Press. His books include Sapient Circuits and Digitalized Flesh: The Organization as Locus of Technological Posthumanization (2016); Posthuman Management: Creating Effective Organizations in an Age of Social Robotics, Ubiquitous AI, Human Augmentation, and Virtual Worlds (second edition, 2016); Neuroprosthetic Supersystems Architecture (2017); and Phenomenology of the Gameworld: A Philosophical Toolbox for Video Game Developers (2019).

He is the founder and CEO of consulting firm NeuraXenetica LLC and software developer Cognitive Firewall LLC, and he previously served as Administrator of the Department of Psychology at Georgetown University and Associate Director of the Woodstock Theological Center and taught philosophical ethics. He completed his MBA in Innovation and Data Analysis at the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences and his MA in Marketing and Innovation at Anglia Ruskin University and holds certificates in Advanced Business Management and Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University and a BA in Philosophy from Wabash College.
