Scott Martin began pursuing his fascination with Tarot after retiring from teaching theatre arts on the secondary and college levels. He also directed theatrical productions and mentored graduate students of theatre arts at the City University of New York. He combined that love for theatre with Tarot in 2017 when he wrote "Bringing the Tarot to Life-Embody the Cards through Creative Exploration." For that he was awarded "Best Mass Market Book of the Year for Innovation and Insight" by The Tarosophists Association. The book has also been translated into Russian by Avvalon LoScrabeo. His second book, "The Silent Doorkeeper-The Alchemical Tarot Shines a Light on Covid-19" examines the pandemic through the lens of each of the 78 cards in Robert M. Place's beautiful Alchemical Tarot Deck. Martin has recently finished a manuscript about Pamela Colman Smith and how her theatrical background influenced her imagining the pictures she drew for the Rider-Waite Smith Tarot Deck.
