Gia Sullivan was born in Haskell, Texas in December 1971 and grew up mostly in Oklahoma where she and her sister lived with both of their parents. Gia married her husband Jason, a US army veteran in 1999, and they added 3 children in the next few years to their blended family of nine kids. In the Spring of 2010 Gia earned a masters degree in legal studies but only a few months later found herself admitted to a behavioral health center for the first time where she was ultimately diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Helping others with mental illness became a priority for her. Gia wrote for her first book The Brilliant Awakening an Anthology: Stories of Hope and Healing from the Mouths of Everyday Sheros in 2017 and began other endeavors, including writing for the Brilliant Awakening magazine to encourage and educate others on the daily living of those with bipolar disorder and other mental conditions.
