That is Mickey’s motto. Poetry has gone out of favor as an

art form and Mickey’s mission is to bring it back by

writing verse that is not only intricately layered and

sometimes profound, but is also easily readable by anyone of

any literary experience or interest. “It doesn’t matter

what I intended a poem to say. The most important thing is

what the poem speaks to the reader. Once they read the

poem it is theirs.”

Professional skier, zookeeper, prison guard, teacher, ecologist, wildlife

manager, life safety consultant, Mickey has a lifetime of

unique experiences under his belt. The term "renaissance man" has been mentioned more than once. These experiences color his verse and help bring new ideas and new images to his readers.

Mickey also brings a lifetime of literary skill to his works. An avid outdoorsman, he spent much of his life roaming the wild places as well as the cities of three continents. He brings the imagery, feeling and psyche of these places, and the people that live there to his poetry.
